“The usual stuff”
December 17th 2018
When I try to clarify to myself why I take photographs, I tend to rely on the usual statements about the joys of walking, thinking and seeing, the allure of the visible world and its hidden, inconspicuous rough data, the awe prompted by the images produced by that time-freezing machine, which is the camera. The wonder of the recorded moment, the mysteries of reminiscence and the wrinkles and riddles of memory and recollection – the usual stuff. Sometimes I regard my photography as a kind of erratic and clueless collaboration with the chance, a silly, non-practical, absurd searching for meaning through happenstance and serendipity. I don’t deal with newsworthy events, I don’t intend to describe nor instruct, neither do I consider my photographs a form of art. I just like to photograph stuff. I always carry a camera with me and take photographs, as practically everyone does nowadays.
I’m from Argentina. Born in mid-seventies, with Spanish roots. I live in Spain since 2003. I was introduced to photography by my uncle when I was 17. He taught me its technical principles and sparked my interest in photography as a medium for both self-expression and self-knowledge.
