Graeme Oxby, formerly a Filmmaker and manager of Howard Devoto’s legendary post-punk band Magazine,  is now a documentary photographer and lecturer in photography. He was formerly the Artistic Director of Hull International Photography Festival and produced The Hull Beermat Photography Festival with images chosen by Martin Parr for the City Of Culture in 2017. The Kings Of England photographs have been exhibited widely including most recently in The Belfast Photo Festival. In 2018 he was commissioned to contribute a picture to the Invisible Britain Portraits book. He published his book “The Kings Of England” with Bluecoat Press after spending five years documenting Elvis impersonators in the UK capturing the triumphs, tragedies and sheer spectacle which celebrates the colour, spectacle and devotion of people in the UK who love Elvis Presley. The Kings Of England will be exhibited at Format 19, The UK’s biggest international photography festival.

What that revealed were individual stories of devotion, tragedy and resilience which are at the heart of what this book is about.
